NAIVISM was born as an art trend in France under the great wave of Modernism in the end of the 19th century. It is characterized by child-like openess and optimism, free from the gloomy academic rules of traditional fine art. Typically, a Naïvist painting pictures people busy about in their life and work, pretty scenery from sunny countryside, funny animals from the fables or dream-like imagery twisting toward surrealism. These are artworks that are easy to look at and identify with. A smile is guaranteed!
Iittala offers a genuine taste of delighful Finnish humor.
